Terms of Service

Last updated: 19 July 2026

About these terms

SameStart (“we”, “us”) is run by SameStart Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17327364) with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. These terms are the agreement between you and us for using SameStart. By creating an account or using the service you're agreeing to them, so please have a read. They work alongside our Community Guidelines (the house rules for meetups and chat) and our Privacy Policy (what we do with your data), both of which form part of this agreement.

Who can join

You need to be 18 or over to use SameStart, and you agree to give us accurate details and keep them up to date. Your account is yours alone, please don't share your sign-in. Babies and young children come along to meetups with their own parent or carer, who stays responsible for them throughout.

What SameStart does

SameStart matches pregnant women and new mums into a small group of nearby mums at a similar stage, and organises in-person daytime meetups (coffees, pram walks, early dinners and the like) at a venue we pick. We sort the matching, the booking and the introductions. We can't promise a particular group, venue or date, and a table near you depends on enough mums nearby at the same stage. We're introducing you to other adults in a public place, we don't supervise meetups or vet members beyond our own moderation.

Your first table, membership and payment

  • Your first table is free, and we don't ask for a card to book it.
  • After that, booking needs a membership. It's a recurring monthly subscription at the price shown when you subscribe (currently £9.99 a month), and it's what keeps your weekly table going. You opt in after your first event, there's no auto-charge before you choose.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. We don't store your card details. By subscribing you also agree to Stripe's terms.
  • If a payment fails, you won't be able to book new tables until it's sorted, but any table you've already booked still stands.
  • Price changes. We may change the membership price, and we'll tell you before a change affects you so you can cancel if you'd rather not continue.

Cancelling, and your money

You can cancel your membership at any time from your profile. When you cancel, your membership stays active until the end of the month you've already paid for, and then it simply stops, so you keep your table for the rest of that period. We don't charge a cancellation fee, and we don't refund part-months once a month has started, except where the law says otherwise.

Changing your mind (cooling-off). Because this is bought online, you may have a legal right to cancel a new subscription within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To use that right, email hello@samestart.com. If you've already used the membership to book a table within those 14 days, we may keep an amount reflecting what you've used. None of this affects your statutory rights, or your right to cancel at any time above.

Meetups, and your safety

Tables are 18+ and meet in public, baby-friendly places. You come along of your own choice and you're responsible for yourself and your own little one at all times. SameStart introduces you to other members and arranges the venue, but we're not responsible for what other members say or do, and we don't supervise meetups. Trust your gut: if something feels off, you don't have to stay. If someone makes a table feel unsafe or unwelcome, tell us at support@samestart.com and we'll step in, including removing people who make SameStart worse for everyone.

How to behave

By using SameStart you agree to follow our Community Guidelines. In short: be kind, look out for each other, show up when you've booked, and keep group and area chats friendly, no spam, no selling, no recruiting, no pile-ons. Don't use SameStart for anything unlawful, and don't try to break, scrape or misuse the service.

Things you post

You keep ownership of the messages and feedback you share on SameStart. So that we can run the service (showing your messages to your group, improving matching), you give us permission to host and use that content for those purposes. You're responsible for what you post, and you agree it's yours to share and doesn't break the law or these terms. We can remove content or step in where it breaches the guidelines.

Suspending or ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your profile, which cancels any membership and anonymises your details (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or remove an account if someone breaks these terms or the guidelines, or to keep tables and members safe. If we end your membership for a serious breach we may not refund it.

The service, as it is

We work hard to keep SameStart running well, but we can't promise it'll always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or pause features as the product grows. Matching is a best effort, not a guarantee of a particular table, group or outcome.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where the law doesn't allow it, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights as a consumer (which these terms don't affect). Subject to that, we're not responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen, or for the acts of other members at meetups. We provide a service to consumers for personal use, so we aren't liable for any business losses.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as SameStart changes. If we make a meaningful change we'll let you know (for example by email or in the app) before it takes effect, and continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, though if you live elsewhere in the UK you may bring a claim in your local courts. This doesn't take away any consumer protection you have where you live.
